Be humble like Christ

Philippians 2:1-5

1If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the spirit, if any bowels and mercies,
2Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
3Let nothing be done through strife of vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
4Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
5Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.

Many people-even Christians-live only to make good impression on others or to please thenselves. When people are concerned only for themselves, seeds of discord are sown. Paul therefore stresses spiritual unity, asking the Philippians to love one another and to work together with one heart and purpose. When we work together the problems of other as if they were our own, we demonstrate Christ's example of putting others first, and we crate unity.

In verse 1 "bowels and mercies" means tenderness and compassion.
Christians must feel and show kindness and affectionate sympathy to others...basically REAL LOVE.

In verse 3 "lowliness of mind" means being humble.
Being humble means having a true perspective on ourselves(read Romans 12:3). It does not mean that we should put ourselves down. Before GOD, we are sinners, saved only by GOD's grace; but we are saved and therefore have great worth in GOD's kingdom. **We are to lay aside selfishness, treating others with respect and common courtesy. Considering others' interests as more important than our own links us with Christ, who was/is a true example of humility.**

Some of you may or may not be wondering why I chose these verses. Will I myself need to be more humble, and GOD has been dealing with me on this. So I been praying that GOD will help me and strengthen me and make me more attentive to my ways and the way I treat others. So basically I will be blogging on this a lot. Because boy I need GOD's help. :)

Another verse to reference is 1Peter 3:8-9
8Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
9Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.

Peter developed the qualities of tenderness and humility the hard way. In his early days with Christ , these attitudes did not come naturally to his impulsive, strong personality. But the Holy Spirit changed Peter, molding his strong personality to GOD's use, and teaching him tenderness and humility.

And I know GOD is still working on me to. Molding me to what I ought to be......Humble.

*I know it was long, but it will not always be this long.....promise*Thanks for reading*

In His Name
GOD bless you and yours......
